This is External vacancy announcement from Global Environmental and occupational Health (GEO Health) Hub for Research and Training in Eastern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda) is a research and training platform established with grant support from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Canadian international Development Research Centre (IDRC). The project focuses on air pollution and health, occupational safety and health and climate change research. The school of public Health at Addis University college of Health sciences wants to hire, on contract basis, professionals in the following job positions.

JOB TITLE:-Administrator for GEO Health Hub

 

The GEO Health Hub Administrator will report to the GEO Health Hub principal investigator and will work closely with the GEO Health Hub Manager to provide administrative, financial, and office support to the GEO Health Hub team.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Hub Administrator:

 

Under the supervision of the GEO Health Hub Principal Investigator and Hub Manager, the Hub Administrator is responsible for:

 

  1. Facilitating the process of obtaining the grant funds through the university system and ensuring management of relevant grant budget accounts
  2. Preparing and documenting financial statements on monthly basis as well as formal reporting for funders
  3. Facilitating and monitoring the transfer of funds to partner universities and formal subcontract processes
  4. Compiling human, financial and material resources in a data base on a regular basis
  5. In consultation with the GEO Health PI and hub manager, ensuring timely utilization of financial resources per the project plan.
  6. Managing the accounting system of the project funds on regular basis and ensuring project funds are utilized according to predetermined project budget
  7. Following up on outstanding finances and invoices
  8. Facilitating the recruitment and employment of the project staff based on government and university regulation
  9. Identifying and facilitating the purchase of project materials such as stationary and electronic equipments following current public regulation including supporting the collection of bid documents and other documentation for equipment/supply procurement
  10. Managing project properties according government regulation
  11. Ensuring fiscal and financial closure reports when the project is completed
  12. Assisting Hub manager with the preparation of presentations and other research related publications
  13. Coordinating processes associated with GEO Health workshops (Invitations, venues, payments and other related logistics)
  14. Organizing travel arrangements and related accommodations for project staff and partners for GEO Health meetings /workshops/travel
  15. Conducting other similar tasks as needed

 

Qualifications:

 

A/potential candidate is expected to have:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, management, finance, Business management, business administration, business education or related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in finance or administration
  • A strong command of both written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, etc) required and experience with financial management software preferred
  • A background in project administration and financial management
  • Understanding of (and experience with) accounting practices
  • Ability to organize and prioritize activities independently
  • Experience in working with diverse individuals and organizations
  • Familiarity with /experience in NIH or other international federal funding agencies (e.g, Canadian IDRC) preferred.

Duration and condition of Employment: One year with possibility of extension for full five-year project period based on performance

Monthly Salary:-Commensurate with experience starting at 12,000 ETB basic salary 1000.00 communication allowance and 1000.00 transport allowance subjected to tax based on Ethiopian tax regulation.
