St. Paul’s Millennium Medical College and the center from international reproductive health training (CIRHT) at the University of Michigan is working in collaboration to enhance the reproductive health pre-service training in Ethiopia using a customized and context based program. The program mainly implemented in nine higher teaching medical institutes namely:Addis Ababa University, Bahardar University, Hawassa University, Haromaya University, MekeleUniversity, Debretabor University, Jimma University University of Gondar and Adama hospital
Medical College. The program works to improve the capacity of these partner institutions to produce competent health care providers that will deliver high quality contraception and safe pregnancy termination services.
Partner institutions will achievethis by 1) ensuring that facultymembers have the necessary clinical competencies as well as teaching and research skills. 2) delivering a curriculum that is comprehensive and competency based for the students and 3) creating adequate opportunity for hands-on and simulation-based clinical training. Program manager and national program directors will oversee the program. St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College is now looking for competent and qualified individuals to hire on contract basis for theposition of reproductive health site coordinators for University of Gondar and Debretabor University.

 

Responsibilities
• Work with national program directors to coordinate assessments of
partner medical institutions for planning and prioritizing capacity building
activities.
• Develop specific work plan for activities in particular partner institution
together with the national program directors and faculty.
• Organize skill laboratory in coordination with national program directors
• Establish model RH (FP/CAC) clinics in particular institute in coordination
with national programdirectors and faculty.
• Make sure the medical and midwifery students get appropriate skill
whenever assigned in FP/CAC units. Identify gaps and report to faculty
and national program directors
• Liaise with faculty staff at partner medical schools to support
implementation activities (faculty development, clinical capacity building,
procurement of equipment, supporting research activities etc.)
• Support the national program directors in coordinating and facilitating
clinical trainings, workshops and providing on-site technical support
during visits.
• Assist national program directors in coordinating national and regional
meetings (annual review meeting, national technical meeting) experience
sharing visits and other monitoring visits
• Ensure compliance of services with FMOH, CIRHT and other medical/
clinical technical standards and guidelines.
Reporting
• The site program coordinator will be responsible to provide weekly as
well as monthly reports to the national program directors in Ethiopia
based on an agreed template. S/he will be responsible to coordinate
the day-to-day activities of the partner institutions pertaining to
reproductive health.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of science in public health, midwifery, nursing experts in
reproductive health, family planning and comprehensiveabortion care
with minimum of threeyears’ experience
Number of experts required:- 2 (two)
• Proven experience working/coordinating RH (FP/CAC) service
• Demonstrated capacity to support development /implementation of work
plans, monitoring and evaluation activities and reports
• Excellent ability to interact with experts and collaborators across multiple
disciplines, program areas and cultures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic
