Concern worldwide in Ethiopia would like to invite dynamic and creative applicants for the following positions;

 

Overall Objective of the position

To deliver technical assistance and research works for the project entitled “Feed the Future Ethiopia Potato Activity”

Specific Duties and responsibilities :

Project Design and implementation:

  • Being with the Researcher of Adet Research Center, s/he will coordinate; the identification of the researchable issues, the designing, and implementation of the operational Research of the project,
  • S/he will lead the analysis of research data on the piloting, testing and promoting the innovative practices and technologies  of the project for future scaling out
  • S/he will coordinate the writ up of the research results, publication and circulation through facilitating different means for use at micro, meso and macro levels
  • Will facilitate the selection and use of improved practices and technologies on the promotion of irish potato seed production and ware potato production per the commitment of the project
  • Will guide and facilitate the provision of advisory services to project field staff of concern and Development Agents of the offices of Agriculture to enable them deliver important advise to project targeted HHs for enhanced results of the project,
  • Will guide field level staff to support the seed potato producers cooperatives in their storage management of seed potato for enhanced quality of seed and safety from infection to diseases and parasites
  • Will facilitate and implement the capacity building works of the project that targeted project staff and communities,
  • Being with the Taskforce of the quality Declared Planting Material (QDPM) established in the project woredas, s/he will develop protocols for the production and distribution of QDPM to the project targeted (PSNP) HHs,

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • S/he will monitor the OR works of the project for proper implementation of the research according to the design, quality of data and proper documentation,
  • Will monitor and implement actions per the commitment made to the Donor on the Environmental   issues, Mitigation actions, and reporting on the Findings resulted from the implementation of activities classified as “unknown or moderate risk” in the “Environmental Review form”
  • Will monitor and support that policies and guidelines on cross cutting issues (gender, child protection, accountability, DRR) are fully understood by the project staff an other project stakeholders and are mainstreamed in the project

HR and Finance

  • Assist the project Manager in the tracking of finances allocated to the project for timely use for the intended purposes,
  • Assist the project Manager in mentoring and supporting the field staff of concern and development agents while carrying out their responsibilities

Required qualifications and experiences

  • MSc degree in horticulture, agronomy and related fields of study
  • Have at least five years of relevant experiences after holding the MSc degree in a technical field directly related to the innovation or technology proposed in the technical approach;
  • Hands on experiences in operational research with smallholder farmers and survey tools required to carry out the proposed testing and piloting activities;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills;
  • Strong English Language skills 

    Required

    Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English. Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity Ability to work under pressure in a stressful situation
