The Ethiopia commodity Exchange (ECX) is a new initiative for Ethiopia and the first of its kind in Africa. We are recruiting to fill the position:

Litigation and Arbitration specialist

Reporting to:-Chief compliance officer (CCO)

Duty station:-Head office Addis Ababa

Job Purpose

The job purpose is to handle court cases and represent ECX in court, quasi-judicial and administrative organs and organize and facilitate arbitration process

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares legal briefs, arguments, and testimony in preparation for presentation of cases for and against ECX and submits for approval.
Represents ECX in court, quasi-judicial and administrative organs and reports on the progress to the GC.
Follows-up implementation of court decision and reports on the progress to the CCO.
Set arbitration proceeding in motion and assist and facilitate the proceeding and implementation of arbitral award.
Investigate any breaches in compliance and prepare investigation reports.
Prepare charge documents based on the investigations conducted on any breaches in compliance
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required Qualification and experience

LLM and 2 years of experience or LLB and 4 years of experience in court related, legal advisory field
Adequate knowledge on substantive and procedural laws of Ethiopia
Exposure to alternative dispute resolution mechanism in Ethiopia is preferable
Demonstrate effective communication skills: oral/presentation and written communication skills
Well conversant in other languages preferably Oromiffa or Tigrigna.
