Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is an Ethiopian Residents Charity Organization, non-political, non-religious and not-for-profit LNGO working in areas of sustainable wetland/ natural resources management and livelihoods improvement with the aim to achieve the dual goals of environment and development in Ethiopia.

EWNRA is looking to hire professionals to fill the following vacant posts at the REDD+ participatory Forest Management (PFM) project Phase II being Implemented in southwest Ethiopia Oromia and SNNP Regional States.

Job Title:-Community Level Participatory Forest Management (PFM) Facilitator

Duty Station:-Nonosele Woreda (quantity 1) in llu Aba Bora Zone (1):

Andracha Woreda (quantity 1) Sheka Zone and Gesha Woreda (quantity 1) Kefa Zone in SNNPRS

Under the supervision of and reporting to PFM Facilitators; the community level PFM

Facilitators will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities

  • Identify gotts and Kebeles eligible for project activities within project woreda;
  • Lead and facilitate community consultation towards the establishment of local level forest dependent community institution (PFM – REDD+ community association and marketing coops  as deemed necessary);
  • Assist local communities in institution building (drafting community by laws, election of office bearers, etc);
  • Conduct capacity building trainings identified in the project and involve in capacity building activities and /or trainings among others on participatory forest management (PFM), REDD+ processes, community based PFM institution building, community entrepreneurship and marketing cooperatives, sustainable use/exploitation of forest products including non-timber forest products (NTPF), ensuring equity and equal participation among community members, benefit sharing and on conflict resolution aspects, etc.
  • Assist in preparation of field manual /guidelines to be used by community level PFM –REDD+ facilitators, and simple PFM-REDD+ educational materials understandable at community level;
  • Assist in forest area zonation, forest resources inventory and monitoring;
  • Facilitate community level participatory planning processes, the identification of needs and preferences of forest dependent communities /user groups; and formation of local level PFM-REDD+ institutions (relevant to the project) in collaboration with other project staffs and got/kebele level authorities;
  • Produce and submit on time clear, descriptive and quality reports in English to Woreda Project coordinating office and or to Project Team Leader; and
  • Perform other organizational and project related tasks that may be required by Woreda Project Coordinating office

Qualifications and Experience:-the potential candidate for the post should have Bachelor degree from recognized Universities /colleges in forestry and related fields. Besides, s/he should have at least 2 years demonstrable work experience in areas of participatory forest Management, local (community) institution development, community consultation and rural appraisal and development of rural coops. NGO experience is an advantage.

Knowledge of local language is mandatory for all candidates.

Terms of employment for all posts: one-year (12 months) contract based on successful performance (with possibility of extension for additional four years)
