The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for employment in country for the position of CLO Administrative Assistant within in the Management Section of the Embassy.  

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Under direct supervision of the CLO Coordinators incumbent provides administrative support to the Community Liaison Office; assists the Community Liaison Officer in developing and maintaining key contacts and managing information that benefits the morale and welfare of the entire Mission; and supports the 8 areas of CLO responsibilities (Event Planning, Community Liaison, Welcome & Orientation, Guidance and Referral, Employment Liaison, Crisis Management and Information & Resource Management).

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

  1. Required Education: High School diploma is required.
  2. Required Experience: A minimum of five years of administrative work experience and within these five years, at least one year of travel arrangement and large scale event coordination experience is required.
  3. Language Requirement: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Amharic is required.  English Language proficiency will be tested.
  4. Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent communication (written and oral) skills; Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multi-tasks. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills in order to deal with a variety of Embassy personnel, family members and delegations. Strong research skills in order to respond to inquiries from the Embassy community. Must be proficient in the use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Share Point. Ability to develop and maintain effective contacts in local business and service communities. Ability to draft basic office correspondence, use good judgment in performing administrative tasks, and provide quality customer service are required.
  5. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Addis Ababa’s history/culture/customs; good knowledge of Ethiopian history/culture; good working knowledge of Embassy organizational structure; a strong understanding or experience in travel and event planning; and good working knowledge of DOS policies on CLO programs are required.

1. Management may consider the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.

2. Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.

3. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.

4. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.
